JV Soccer Recap

Most know the Oratory soccer program for the continual varsity soccer success. However, few people outside those immediately involved in the team pay attention to the Junior Varsity’s success. The team’s variety of results and many ups and downs made for a very interesting fall season. Freshmen made up a significant amount of the team as there were 10 freshmen asked to play up. This indicates a very bright future for the program in the upcoming years. The JV squad leaders, who were also chosen as captains, consisted of Conor Maenpa, Owen Lines, and Joe Dymkowski. The team finished with a record of 7-6-1 with many losses being decided by a close margin, including a crushing 3-2 loss to Union Catholic towards the season end. Although there were some crippling defeats, there were also decisive victories won by a clear margin. Multiple games ended with Oratory’s JV team ahead by four or more goals such as the home game against David Brearley and Rahway. The home field advantage was evident to this persistent group, and the team had an undefeated record at Oratory. The only loss on a turf field came at the hands of Union Catholic by a single goal. Coach Dilisi was new this year and did a marvelous job turning a vastly different group into an admirable team with exceptional chemistry. The record does not tell the whole story with the talent amount contained in this skilled team. The majority will return to this team next year and all Oratory Soccer teams are looking forward to a prosperous future with many victories to come.
