OP Mock Trial Finishes Top 12 in the State

On February 7th, the mock trial traveled to the New Jersey Bar Foundation in New Brunswick to compete in the central regional tournament. To qualify for the regional tournament,  though, each team must win their individual county championship. OP arrived at the competition at around 9:15 AM, set up their materials in a ‘mock trial courtroom’, and then picked their side (randomly), either plaintiff or defense, to go against Voorhees. OP picked plaintiff and began the trial. After around two hours, OP was declared the winner and advanced to the next round (the regional semifinal).

In the regional semifinal, OP’s defense was picked to go against Princeton Day School’s (PDS) plaintiff side. This trial began around 1:30 PM and ended at 4:30 PM, with OP losing to PDS. Although OP’s mock trial team would have liked to go farther this year, they still finished in the top 12 in the state, out of more than 200 teams.
