  1. What job do you currently have?

Mike Contaxis

  • “I work at a deli/grocery store called Burrinis.”

Christian Lofaro

  • “I currently work at Smartworld Coffee in Denville.”

Jake Noss

  • “I work as a cashier at the Meat House in Summit.”
  1. Is it your first job, or have you had any jobs before this?

Mike Contaxis

  • “Yes it is my first real job.”

Christian Lofaro

  • “This is my first job.”

Jake Noss

  • “Yes, this is my first job.”
  1. What are your responsibilities/duties with that job?

Mike Contaxis

  • “I serve/maintain a salad bar, smoothie bar, hot bar, and an olive bar.”

Christian Lofaro

  • “My responsibilities in this job are: to take people’s orders, make drinks, brew coffee, restock any/all items, and do general cleaning of the store. Just the basic tasks that you’d see a “barista” doing.”

Jake Noss

  • “Checking out customers, cleaning, restocking among other things.”
  1. How long have you had your current job?

Mike Contaxis

  • “I have been working at Burrinis for 6 months.”

Christian Lofaro

  • “I’ve had this job since the summer of sophomore year. So I’m coming up on about a year and a half.”

Jake Noss

  • “Close to 2 months.”
  1. When do you work during the week?

Mike Contaxis

  • “I work only on the weekends on a normal week”

Christian Lofaro

  • “During the week I work generally 2-3 days from 6:00-9:30PM, when we close.”

Jake Noss

  • “Only weekends in the afternoon.”
  1. Why do you work?

Mike Contaxis

  • “I work so I can make my own money and be less reliant on my parents. As well as hopefully buying a car.”

Christian Lofaro

  • “I chose to get a job because I wanted to start saving up money for college.”

Jake Noss

  • “Because it’s a nice way to earn some money for myself.”
  1. Is it hard to balance school work/free time/working hours?

Mike Contaxis

  • “For me it is not very hard as I get all my homework done during the week and I usually just hang out with friends after work.”

Christian Lofaro

  • “No, it’s not hard balancing school work and my job because I have time to start homework before I have to go to work and sometimes I go directly from school to work so that I can get as much done first and then I finish whatever I have left after I come home.”

Jake Noss

  • “Not entirely because it is only on the weekends.”
  1. What are the best and worst parts of having a job and why?

Mike Contaxis

  • “The best part is being able to not be completely reliant on your parents for money. The worst part is you really don’t get too many days completely off. “

Christian Lofaro

  • “The best part of having a job is that it has helped me learn to really manage my time and I’ve met some really great people that make it easy to find coverage when something comes up or when u need off to work on a project or essay. One of the worst things of having a job is probably not always having the most available schedule for hanging out with friends, but other than that there really isn’t much to hate on because the majority of things just end in laughter.”

Jake Noss

  • “The best part is the bimonthly paycheck. The downsides are when the store is empty but you have to keep busy.”
  1. Should other students try to get jobs while in school?

Mike Contaxis

  • “Yes, I feel that it helps teach responsibility, self reliance, respect, and helps develop a good work ethic. “

Christian Lofaro

  • “I would recommend getting a job only if you have the time to commit.”

Jake Noss

  • “If they think they have to time to put the commitment in, go for it.”
