NFL Week 5 Recap

Many upsets occurred during the fifth week of the NFL season.  The Arizona Cardinals regained some shades of their dominant form from last season as they beat the 49ers 33-21 on Thursday Night Football.   Sunday’s winners were the Vikings, Colts, Steelers, Titans, Lions, Patriots, Redskins, Falcons, Cowboys, Raiders, and Bills.  That Packers beat the Giants on Sunday Night Football.  The Buccaneers continued their surprising start by beating the Panthers 17-14.

Week 5 was headlined by the fall of the Broncos and Eagles, two teams that looked great with rookie quarterbacks captaining their respective teams.  Darius Slay recorded a forced fumble and an interception in a huge win for the Lions 24-23.  Tevin Coleman ran and received for 163 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons made a statement in their 23-16 victory over the Broncos.  Meanwhile, in Cleveland, Tom Brady marked his return by lighting up the Browns defense, passing for 406 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Patriots fans could also rejoice in the fact that Rob Gronkowski looked better than he had in previous weeks, recording 109 receiving yards.  Roberto Aguayo, despite missing 2 field goals earlier in the match, kept his poise to nail a 38-yard field goal to win the game for the Buccaneers.

Week 6 is an important week for the local teams as they try to regain footing in their divisions after slow starts (except for the Bills).  The undefeated Vikings and the Buccaneers both have byes this week.  Important matches this week include: Broncos @ Chargers, Eagles @ Redskins, Bengals @ Patriots, Ravens @ Giants, Rams @ Lions, Panthers @ Saints, Chiefs @ Raiders, Cowboys @ Packers, Falcons @ Seahawks, and Jets @ Cardinals.
