ClusterTruck Alpha Review

ClusterTruck+Alpha+Review

On long car rides as a kid, I alway imagined a small man following my family’s car, jumping on other cars and avoiding obstacles. ClusterTruck is the embodiment of that dream.

ClusterTruck is a game of “the floor is lava” where your goal is to get from Point A to Point B on top of trucks with terrible, fearless drivers. Although this may sound simple, many obstacles stand in your way. These obstacles may include walls, gaps, cliffs, guillotines, hammers, pistons, or other trucks with terrible drivers. At your disposal, however, is the ability to slow down time, which allows for quick micro-management in mid-air to assure that you land on the only surviving truck. The final game will feature more abilities besides slowing time, including a double jump, an air dash and a jetpack.

The learning curve for this game is rather steep, and the game gets difficult quickly. ClusterTruck seems to be the newest Super Meat Boy in terms of difficulty. In the final game there will be over 100 levels, with compatibility for user-generated content, making for endless fun. The game is set to release in fall this year, but you can get the alpha build of the game right now.
