Parents should ultimately have a say over their kid’s devices, but it’s get tricky when the parents are split up. Ronald Jackson, a father in Texas, was woken up and arrested at 2 am three weeks ago. The arrest occurred when Mr. Jackson took his daughter’s iPhone, which his wife had bought for her.

A judge in Dallas, Texas has founded Ronald not guilty for theft of his daughter’s iPhone. The judge commented that there wasn’t enough evidence to move forward. The story goes back to 2013, when Mr. Jackson found a rude text on his daughter’s cell phone talking about another girl. As a responsible parent, he took the phone away. When his ex-wife found out about it, her new spouse, a local police officer became involved. Mr. Jackson said during an interview with CBS, “I don’t want the police department telling me how to parent my child.” Jackson was given a citation and a year later, Mr. Jackson was arrested for misdemeanor theft. Mr. Jackson’s ex-wife told reporters that it wasn’t his property to take away and if he had returned the phone in the beginning, this would have never happened.
