The Road to October Starts Now

The Road to October Starts Now

2016 will sure be one interesting year in the American League. David Price joins the Red Sox while David Ortiz looks to retire as a champion. Additionally, Aroldis Chapman joins the Bronx Bombers, the Astros seek to make back-to-back postseason trips and the Royals look to repeat their World Series victory. While 2015 saw the Blue Jays end their 21-year postseason drought, 2016 hopes to be the year the Mariners can end their 14-year postseason drought. A-Rod was stellar in 2015, hoping to do the same in 2016 and lead the Yankees to another postseason berth. So as we approach Spring Training, here are my bold predictions for the American League in 2016:

AL East

  1. Red Sox
  2. Blue Jays (Wild Card)
  3. Yankees
  4. Orioles
  5. Rays

AL Central

  1. Royals
  2. White Sox
  3. Tigers
  4. Indians
  5. Twins

AL West

  1. Mariners
  2. Rangers (Wild Card)
  3. Astros
  4. Angels
  5. A’s

The Red Sox will finish atop the American League and play the Blue Jays (who will beat the Rangers in the Wild Card game,) in the ALDS. The Royals will play the Mariners in the ALDS and the Red Sox and Mariners will meet in an ALCS that will get decided in seven games. In the end, the Red Sox will advance to the World Series.
