Top Five Movies of 2015

Top Five Movies of 2015

Carlo Zahl-Batlle, Staff Writer

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to 2016!! Although we are a week and a half into 2016 I would like to briefly revisit 2015. I would like to list my top five movies of 2015.

5. Kingsman: The Secret Service

Based on Mark Millar’s comic The Secret Service, director Matthew Vaughn gave us James Bond for a new generation. This movie is filled with sharp dialogue, and some great action sequences.

4. Ant Man

It’s no secret that I love comic books and this movie literally pulled off the impossible. It made the joke of Marvel comics that is Ant Man, and made him cool. Ant Man, the mad scientist of the Marvel universe, became a lovely redemption story. Filled with funny dialogue, great special effects, Ant Man is one of Marvel’s best movies yet.

3. Inside Out

Nobody does animated movies like Pixar, and Inside Out is one their best movies yet. It brings the viewer into the magical world of an eleven year-old’s brain. Truly an interesting concept where we get to see Sadness learn to smile and Joy learn to cry. And any movie that can make me cry over an imaginary friend is a win in my book.

2. Mad Max: Fury Road

It has been twenty-five years since shotgun-toting road warrior Max Rockatansky has cruised across the screen. In mid-May he returned with a bang, in the form of Tom Hardy. A two-hour car chase that is chock full of awesome looking cars, and glorious explosions, Fury Road revitalizes such a simple premise with a glorious execution.

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It’s Star Wars, need I say more?

So in conclusion, 2015 was an awesome year for movies. Let’s hope that 2016 brings us more awesome movies.
