Freshman year! A new start at a new school and a huge number of new people to become friends with. What do the some of the current freshmen think about their first quarter at Oratory? What are they thinking? What’s going on with them? I was honored to talk with freshman Ryan Genoy and find out more about his time starting at OP.

What does he feel at Oratory that makes this place so special? He feels that this school has a family feeling to it. All the students are his brothers and always support him no matter what happens. From a bad day to a great day, everyone is there to cheer him up or support him when he does something great.

What activities does he participate in? Ryan seems to want to do a lot at Oratory. In his years here, he hopes to start service projects, play basketball, help with numerous drives and help out his community. There are endless possibilities that someone that attends OP such as Ryan can be a part of. Everything from sports, to clubs, to service or just lending a hand and making someones day amazing.

What is his favorite part of Oratory so far? He seemed so enthused that he could talk for hours on this topic. He immediately started to tell me about having class with Mr. Kennedy. From what Ryan explained, it sounded like Mr. Kennedy has a unique way of teaching his classes. He has a way to make the classes entertaining while being able to get the students to retain important information.

If OP could add anything to make you happy, what would it be? His response echoes what many on the swim team want, a pool. With a pool he thinks that there would be so many more things that one could do, like water polo or even a swim club.

It seems that the freshman class has been growing together and getting to know each other wonderfully. He is doing well in all his classes and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring and what he can do better and make his mark at OP.
