Once again, Oratory Prep will be having another 3 on 3 March Madness. Everyone in the school looks forward to it every year and the chance to win the title in their division. The 9th and 10th grade division consists of 12 teams, so competition is going to be very tough. However, a clear favorite to win this division is the team of Austin Lee, Anthony Guerriero, AJ Kopacz, and Anthony Silvestri. They are seen as the favorite because they are an athletic team that has a lot of size. Also, everyone on this dominant team has played on Oratory’s basketball team. A team that has the ability to post an upset is the one comprised of Nick D’Alessandro, Seamus Degen, and Matt Bopp. In the 11th and 12th grade division there are also 12 teams competing for the title. The favorite in this division is the team consisting of Andrew Lee, Brendan Lawlor, and Matt Davis. They are seen as favorites to win the division due to their dangerous perimeter shooting. All three players also play on Oratory’s varsity basketball team, making it a tough matchup for opponents. In addition to this team, a dark horse favorite to make some noise in the tournament is the trio of Andrew Lynch, Max Picut and Connor Gilheany. What they lack in skill they make up for in confidence. Keep an eye out for them. A squad that could contest for the title is the team of Henry Monaco, Kristian Grimm, Chris Manning, and Brendan Mairs. This team is an athletic team but also has a lot of size over any other team in this division. Oratory’s March Madness starts on March 12 so get ready to play some basketball.
