In what sport do the words “bid,” “pancake,” and “pivot” all make sense when in context? We’re not talking about “bidding” in poker, a “pancake” in football, or a “pivot” in basketball. No, instead, we are talking about one of the quickest growing sports captivating the college world. The sport of ultimate frisbee.

Now, before I get you too excited, there is still a lot of groundwork that needs to go into the planning of Oratory’s newest team and what might become the next big sports achievement for the school since we infamously played Kyrie Irving during his tenure at MKA. Now, before the team can be established for the entire school to be a part of, there have to be a series of steps that must occur in order to get the team set up. The step would be to establish interest in the team. That means that, starting with the Sports Enthusiasts club, the highly revered Mr. Scotto will take a tally seeing how interested each student is in signing up for the team. Then, if he finds there to be suitable interest within the club, the team may open up to see who else in the school would be interested. After that, well, the fate of the OP frisbee team may remain undetermined, unless there is a sizeable amount of interest generated by the students of this fine institution.

As of right now, there does not seem to be much interest in a team, quite unfortunately. All that means, quite simply, is that there should be a huge uproar from the rest of the school to participate. Ultimate Frisbee is one of the best experiences any Oratory student could ever have, as there are multiple benefits that come along with being on this team. For example, the sense of comradery that is established with your fellow teammates, knowing that you as a group took over this fledgling program and made it into what it may eventually become. Also, it gives you something to do after school instead of going home and doing homework (although studies show student athletes tend to do better in school than regular students, but I digress from that topic of discussion). And finally, Ultimate Frisbee is a highly revered sport in the collegiate world, and it continues to grow by the day. Plus, who wouldn’t want to use the cool lingo words such as “flip for disc” and “chilly?” I hope to see all you airbenders out on the field!
