OP Parking

Oratory is really not that bad of a place. Sure it’s a little cramped in the hallways, you get to know everyone a little too well, and making the long, frigid journey up to Newman Hall every day is not something to look forward to, but all in all it’s not that bad. At least that’s what I thought until I started driving. The mild excitement I had on my first day driving to school quickly diminished when I arrived at the Oratory parking lot at 8:05am on a Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, my GPS said “You have reached your destination”…this however could not be further from the truth. Not only were there no available spots, but practically every car was doubled parked so badly that it looked more like a high-end junkyard than a high-school parking lot. So there I was, 2 minutes before the bell, and I had to call an audible and park my whip up at Newman Hall. After I put my recently acquired parallel parking skills to good use, I knew I had a bitter journey ahead of me. The walk down to the main building was less than spectacular, highlighted by a hazardous pathway and sub-zero temperatures. I questioned my life, my decisions, my everything. When I finally arrived in room 208, precisely 8 minutes after the final bell I was exhausted and ready to go home. Parking at Oratory is truly an experience not for the faint of heart.
