Oratory Loss Result of Another “Deflategate?”

David Santos, Staff Writer

The Oratory Prep Varsity Basketball Team lost to their rivals “School X” (we can’t use their real name due to concerns from the administration) last week 58-48. It seemed like every shot was falling for “School X”, while nothing would go into the net for Oratory. Here at The Omega, we believed this to have just been a coincidence, but an anonymous source called into the newspaper two days ago, claiming that “School X” had deflated their basketballs in order to have an advantage. How deflated balls would affect the game is not quite known, as both teams would be using the same ball. Nevertheless, we got in touch instantly with the Athletic Director of “School X,” and the school scheduled a press conference for yesterday afternoon.

In a tense press conference yesterday, the coach of “School X” addressed an angry group as he refuted the reports of another “Deflategate.” “I had nothing to do with the deflation of the game balls. Perhaps you should ask our star point guard.” He also made it clear that if “School X” were found to have done nothing wrong, he expected “a full apology from EVERYONE at Oratory Prep.” The star point guard was interviewed earlier this morning, and he vehemently denied any allegations linking him with “Deflategate.” “When I felt [the game balls], they were perfect.” the point guard said, “I wouldn’t want anyone touching those.” The Omega will be on top of this story, and we will let you know any further developments in the “Deflategate” case.
