On Tuesday, November 18th, the Oratory Prep seniors partook in their senior trip to New York City. The day’s agenda included: going to Churrascaria Plataforma, a Brazilian steakhouse specializing in Rodizio (something I will cover later), and The Ride, an interactive sightseeing bus ride through Times Square and the surrounding areas. The class left at about 10:30 in the morning, and was seated at the steakhouse by 12:00. The majority of the students were given the opportunity to try Rodizio for the first time, and almost all of them stated that they cannot wait to try it again. What makes Rodizio so special is that it is an all-you-can-eat style of restaurant service that provides customers with a variety of different meats. Some personal favorites of the students were the flank steak, top sirloin, and bacon-wrapped filet mignon, with James Calder even calling the experience “being in meat heaven”.

After their two hour feast, the students went on their way to The Ride. At this point you may be wondering what The Ride is, similar to how every student felt before getting on the bus yesterday. What it was, as Michael Milano described it, was “interesting and unique”. On The Ride, everyone sat facing one side of the street, and a man and a woman interacted with the young men. Throughout the drive around New York City, the man and woman provided information on several New York landmarks, and there were several “random occurrences” where “random New Yorkers” would come up to the bus and sing or dance. Ultimately, the senior trip was a huge success, and it is something that many of the students will not soon forget. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Jones, who organized the trip and chaperoned during it, and Mr. Acquadro, Mr. Barresi, Mr. Marsh, and Mr. Maybe, who all helped chaperone and keep the seniors in check.
