Jets QB Situation

Jets QB Situation

The Jets are out of fuel and are going down. After starting the season with a win against the Oakland Raiders, the New York Jets lost their next eight games. After Geno Smith’s consistently bad performances, the Jets decided to go to the veteran, Michael Vick, who’s running game is a  threat to other teams as well as his accurate arm. The problem with Vick is that he’s aging and the Jets need a reliable quarterback who can reverse their downward trajectory.  Should the Jets stay with Geno Smith or try to steal a quarterback in the draft?

Well, every NFL Draft the Jets seem to get defensive players in the first round. For example, the Jets have picked Quinton Coples, Muhammad Wilkerson, Kyle Wilson, Calvin Pryor, and Dee Milliner all in previous first rounds. Unfortunately, the Jets can’t bolster their defense in the first round of the next draft because they are in desperate need of a quarterback. In my opinion, they should draft and sign the quarterback from Florida State, Jameis Winston. Winston is a talented quarterback who has a great arm. He is lethal in the clutch, as we have seen in the last BCS National Championship. His only notable weakness is his off field behavior. However, I feel his lack of maturity is an easy fix with the right program and guidance. If the Jets are fortunate enough to have Winston on board when their turn comes up, the Jets should take him as a sound investment in the franchise’s future.
