Meet Freshman Billy Skinner

Meet Freshman Billy Skinner

Lucas Toglia, Writer

Billy Skinner is a new to Oratory Prep, but his name is not.  Billy’s a freshman from Mountainside who has an older brother, Jack, who is a well known senior at OP. Jack runs cross country, plays basketball and leads the photography club. Billy, who has been in the building for a little over two months, has been referred to as “little Skinner.”  When asked why he came to Oratory he told the Omega, “My brother goes here and I like the community.  Oratory is a brotherhood and there’s nothing like it anywhere else.”  Billy, who was influenced greatly by his brother, said his best decision was joining cross country at Oratory Prep.  It is evident that Billy has enjoyed cross country and has found success on the team as he has already ran his first sub 20 minute race. In addition, Billy intends on playing basketball for Oratory. At Holy Trinity, his elementary/middle school, he played for over five years and is looking forward to the winter season.  For the spring, Billy is currently preparing for the lacrosse season. He hopes to make the team and see how he does.

Billy is also a very unique young man.  He told the Omega, “I can walk on my hands and according to Mike Urbinato, I can do a standing backflip”. Billy is a devoted friend and a loyal, outgoing, cool, and laid back guy.  He is a great athlete with a hilarious sense of humor.  Make sure to say hi to Billy if you see him in the hallways.
