Welcome back to Oratory Hours. In this episode, we interview Op’s middle school soccer coach, Mr. Beneventine. Now, here are some questions I want to ask you today:
1. What made you want to become a soccer coach here at Op?
I wanted to help build a stable feeder team, help them adjust to a new environment, and get them ready for the next level and beyond.
2. What is 1 thing you want to maintain in your players?
Teamwork, support with one another, accountability, and help them work with new people on the field
3. What was your reaction to the recent loss against St. Benedict’s?
I thought it was a learning experience, but they were unfortunately disappointed because they cared a lot.
4. Are there players on the middle school team who you see being kept as varsity pieces in the next 4-5 years?
Varsity: Yes. Absolutely
5. Is there any player on the team who has made a lot of improvement?
Everybody. It’s a team sport, and I will give the entire team credit. I want to give them credit because they are all great..
6. What are your expectations for the team this season?
I expect us to do well. It’s not about results, it’s about team building
7. Does each player do their part for the team on the field?
100% They are selfless, and they make each other a unit.
8. How does the win against Pingery at least boost your expectations for the future?
It was a great win, but I tell them all the time to reset and keep moving forward.
9. What practices are you doing to prepare your players for the next level?
Team building drills, possession, fitness, and formation
10. How does this new grade handle things on the field(Example wins or losses)?
Maturely. They don’t bring each other down and keep pushing forward.
