- How long have you been at Oratory Prep for?
I have been here at OP for four years, grades 9-12.
- How has your time at OP been for all those years?
I would say these have been four of the best years of my life, where I’ve been challenged in my perspective on things, but also where I’ve been shown different perspectives on the world and of people. I’ve laughed, cried, and experienced moments with young men I’m proud to call brother. Also, I’ve gotten to have amazing teachers who were there every step of the way on my journey, all so I could succeed.
- What are some of your favorite experiences here?
Some of my favorite experiences have been the Freshman retreat, which is where I met many of my best friends, and the two seasons of Cross-Country that I had the privilege of participating in. I also want to shout out Mock Trial with Mr. Martin, which I participated in this year. It really taught me how to see things from different angles and think differently. Thank you Mr. Martin for taking a chance with me and believing in what I could offer to the team. It’s an experience that I’ll carry for life!
- Do you have any significant interests or hobbies?
I love to read, whether it be articles, books, comics, etc. I also love to swim, run, and travel. My family and I have a goal to see all 50 states in the U.S.
- Do you have any academic goals for the year?
Well, since I’m at the end of senior year already, my goal now is to just finish strong and on a good note.
- Do you have any goals for once you graduate?
Yes. My goal is to go to college and pursue a potential career in medicine.
- Is there anyone at Oratory who has inspired you in a way?
Mr. McCrystal has definitely been an inspiration to me. I remember he once said this before a race, “If you look me in the eye and tell me you did your best, I’ll be satisfied.” His drive as a coach has inspired me as an athlete and student to give it my best in all that I do.
- What advice would you give to the lower grades?
If it’s one big piece of advice I’d give to the underclassmen, it would be this: don’t be afraid to seek help from your teachers. We here at OP are so blessed in that our teachers want us to succeed. I know from experience what happens when you don’t utilize them enough. So to all underclassmen, don’t let fear stop you. Ask and you shall receive!
- Are there any regrets you have in all your time at OP?
My biggest regret is probably not doing good enough in freshman year Geometry to make it to AP Chemistry. While it is a regret, I have not let it stop me from enjoying my OP experience!
- How do you feel about the OP community?
After four years of walking through these halls and getting to know its people, I feel as if the OP community is my second home. My teachers are my cheerleaders and mentors, and I see all my fellow Rams as brothers. All in all, Oratory is a place made special by the drive, dedication, and spirit each student and faculty member brings, and it’s been the ride of a lifetime to experience it! Thank you Oratory, for helping to mold me into the man I am today.
