The Godfather. Citizen Kane. The Shawshank Redemption. All of these films are considered to be some of the greatest motion pictures to ever grace the big screen. In my opinion, one movie that does not get enough love and attention has some of the best character development, symbolism, action, drama, and life lessons that one can experience when watching. Of course, I am talking about Dude, Where’s My Car?. This 2000 comedy stars Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott as Jesse and Chester, two best friends who find themselves unable to remember where they parked their car after a party the night before. They then embark on a journey to find it, encountering their angry girlfriends (played by Jennifer Garner and Marla Sokoloff), a belligerent speaker box operator at a Chinese restaurant’s drive-thru, and numerous groups of people in search of the “Continuum Transfunctioner,” an extraterrestrial device that has the potential to destroy the universe that Jesse and Chester accidentally picked up the previous night.

Many people, including myself, believe that Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott gave the performance of their lives. Scott has gone on the record on Conan saying that he and Ashton “should have been nominated for a few Academy Awards for this film,” and that “It is a travesty Dude, Where’s My Car? has not received any at all.”

Ashton Kutcher has also gone on Conan saying that he would love to make a sequel to the classic, and that there is a script online for this idea titled No Seriously, Dude, Where’s My Car?.

It truly is one of the most underappreciated movies of our time, and should be studied in film classes for its greatness. I rest my case.
