OP Senior Privileges

OP Senior Privileges

Anthony McShane, Staff Writer

At the beginning of my sophomore year, I wandered the vast and boundless halls of this fine college preparatory school. I reflected on what it would be like in my final year at OP. I would peer into the senior lounge or even gaze with envy upon the shiny, blue senior lockers. I would look on as the elders of the school would pull into the student parking lot with their horseless carriages. And yes, I would glance over at the senior lunch line, as they would receive their foodstuffs ten minutes before the rest of the student body. These observations instilled in me a fervent desire to become a senior. The uncontrollable impulse circulated through my veins and ran through my whole body. If only senior year could approach sooner.

Seeing as time does tend to fly, especially when you’re having lots of fun, I woke up and realized it was the middle of junior year. A sudden realization had come to my attention, many things have changed. I pitied my older brethren as some of their intrinsic privileges had been stripped from them, namely the senior lunch line. Some may say this privilege would be frivolous and inessential because lunch gets delivered. I beg to differ.

Waiting in the senior lunch line is the equivalent to showing up to a party in a Lambo. It gives a certain confidence to even the most subdued Oratory lads. They know they will get their food in a timely manner. With this said, I am extremely pleased with the announcement of the senior lunch line. Our seniority has been reinstated in the advent of things getting back to normal. Because our privileges are coming back, we can hold our heads high and teach the rest of the school the “OP Way.”
