Mrs. Crum was a teacher at Oratory for many years before she retired. She taught physics, religion, science, and even coached track and field. She has, since then, come back to teach physics as an in-term replacement for Mr. Jordan. During her retirement, Mrs. Crum said she had a lot of fun. Her third son got married in Pennsylvania, and she also said retirement was very relaxing and settling.

Coming back to Oratory brought back many memories. A lot of things are the same and a lot of things are different. There are so many more kids than when she left; we’re bringing in more and more students every year. I remember in seventh grade there were only ten kids in the whole class, now we’re near 400 for the whole school. The best part for Mrs. Crum in coming back is seeing all her old students growing up. I remember Mrs. Crum teaching me in the seventh and eighth grades and now she teaches me physics as a senior in high school. She couldn’t say whether or not it was better coming back because teaching changes from year to year with the change in classes and students, but she loves the challenge of teaching new students she’s never met and getting to know them.

She described herself as outgoing and loves to be involved in school activities because it keeps her busy and on her toes. I think she really enjoys being back and seeing how the environment of the school has changed since she left, and as an old student, I think it’s great to see Mrs. Crum back at Oratory.
