Is Eli Manning Done?

The New York Football Giants are 1-7, and the fan base is not happy. Many have found their blame in the offensive line, emotional players, and most of all; Eli Manning. Manning has thrown six interceptions, and a meager 8 touchdown passes through week 9. Even Odell Beckham Jr., the team’s number one receiver, has openly shown his disappointment in the 37-year-old QB. “It’s cool catching shallow [routes] and trying to take it to the house, but I want to go over the top of somebody,” said Odell in a previous interview. Manning and his “small ball” offense do not seem to be a fit in New York amongst what should be a top offense. Talent like Odell Beckham Jr., Evan Engram, Saquon Barkley, and Sterling Shepard barely seem to be asked week after week. Underthrown balls, pocket pressure, slow feet, I could go on – the truth is, Eli does not seem to be the “Eli” we remember. The man has two rings and multiple Pro Bowl appearances – it doesn’t seem that there are more to come. The poor performance has Giants fans hungry for an early round draft pick and a shot at another Quarterback. Its safe to say that Eli Manning is likely done with football after this year, it’s a bittersweet feeling for many. While he might be past his prime now, no one will ever forget his two championship seasons both capped with victories over the Patriots in the super bowl. No one will ever forget when he finished with zero turnovers and 250 passing yards in freezing conditions in the Green Bay 2007 NFC championship game. No one will ever forget when he escaped pressure to connect with David Tyree for the “helmet catch” in the 2008 Super Bowl. While we might want him gone now, nobody will forget Eli’s accolades as a Giant. The QB is done but the memories are not, here’s to Justin Herbert!
