As of today, January 6th, the Op fencing team has had two meets and one very long tournament. The first of the two meets was a resounding defeat to St. Peter’s Prep, one of the best teams in the state. The second of the two was against Montclair Kimberley Academy, where we collected an easy win for the records. This tournament, however, was probably the most interesting event so far this season. While Op did not perform very well–placing 35th overall, 25th in epee, and 39th in Saber and Foil–it was a great opportunity to size up the competition. At this point in the season, it would be an accomplishment to go 5-5, especially with a large portion of the starting squads being new.
