I would be surprised if anyone reading this article hasn’t heard of Supreme. Originally a small skate-fashion brand started in New York City, Supreme has grown to be one of the largest and fastest-growing clothing brands in the United States. It can easily be recognized by its obnoxious bright red “BOGO” branding, and its stickers covering tens of thousands of laptops and water bottles worldwide. The brand has reached such an immense amount of popularity that no matter how expensive some products get, even their most recent release of a $500 North Face collaboration has sold hundreds of units in a matter of seconds.

However, I would be lying if I said Supreme hadn’t caught my interest, with a few select pieces entering my closet throughout the past few months. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of their t-shirts, which used a durable but soft fabric. However, a sweatshirt left much to be desired, with the quality comparable to another sweatshirt with a much smaller price tag. However, in terms of aesthetics, Supreme’s multicolored patchwork outweighed the look of the plain black — and of course, the compliments received while wearing it may have justified the price.

Overall, Supreme is a brand that offers occasionally unique and high-quality pieces, but like any other brand, it looks terrible and tacky when overworn. While some of the hype it receives is appropriate, many of its pieces are overpriced and overhyped — while leaving much to be desired.
