Oratory Quiz Bowl Team

Oratory Quiz Bowl Team

Quiz Bowl, moderated by the Omega’s very own Mr. McCrystal, is one of Oratory’s more esoteric and involved clubs, and one of my personal favorites. The team practices using sometimes extremely difficult trivia questions at our practices, and then go to competitions to face off. I’ll let Quiz Bowl club creator and current leader James Bowe explain. “Our club practices every Monday morning where we go through quiz bowl questions from previous competitions. And every year we go to 2 or 3 tournaments where we face off against other schools in 5 rounds of trivia.” When I asked about his duties, he said “As president, I research competition opportunities, plan meetings, and this year I’m pushing for our team to go to nationals for the first time. “ Although it is a running joke that Bowe doesn’t fulfill his responsibilities as president, he does a great job with running the club and I personally respect him. And why should you join? James Bowe said “My best experience was definitely when our team made it all the way to semis last year, out of over 50,” showing how the thrill of competition is one of the highlights. Ryan BerghThies said “I joined the Quiz Bowl Team because I have always had an interest in history and trivia. I saw the Oratory Quiz Bowl Team as a way to improve my skills and to meet new people and make friends in a fun environment. I certainly do not regret joining the Quiz Bowl Team, it was one of my best decisions here at Oratory.” Personally, I love rolling up to competitions with my OP brothers and working together to conquer the other teams. We hope to see you at our meeting next Monday, and reach out to me, James Bowe, or Mr. McCrystal with any questions.
