When the Wasps Attack

On the weekends, I work on a farm about half a mile from my house, called Millers Hill Farm. Working here has been a lot of fun, but I want to tell you about a not so fun experience. About halfway through the summer, I was assigned with one of my least favorite jobs: weeding. This time, I was asked to weed the asparagus patch. At the time, I thought, “okay it’s not big at all,” but once I started it seemed like it would never end. To make matters worse, there were lots of bugs, bees, and worst of all… WASPS.

I was about 30 minutes into with the first of five rows when I felt a sting. Thinking it was a tall piece of grass poking me, I ignored it. But then I felt another and then another. The wasps attacked me! Once I realized what happened, I ran like a chicken without a head!  Once the swelling went down, after a few hours, I decided to get back on the horse. When I went down there I was greeted with good news and bad news. The good news is that that night my Boss, John, killed all of them with a road flare, the bad news was my boss did it and not me. After that day I decided I needed to finish it quickly so I did, it only took me another week.
