Student Leader Workshop with Kyle Scheele

Student Leader Workshop with Kyle Scheele

Nick Looney, Staff Writer

On Tuesday the 11th, the students of Oratory were treated to a presentation by “amateur beard grower” Kyle Scheele. Kyle gave a presentation on the power of one person and left us with an inspiring message. But that assembly is being covered by another writer. I am here to give you a brief synopsis of the workshop. Kyle pulled the Student Council and Rampresentatives into a smaller group. He told us, as an extension of his main presentation, that we should view our lives as a story. He also gave us a lot of examples on how to be leaders. Contradictory to his main speech on the power of one, he told us that one person can only make a small change. But if you lead many people, as young Oratory men strive to do, you can change anything. Here is what some attendees had to say about Kyle’s talk. I asked the student council and Rampresentatives for comment, but no replies were given.

Overall, Kyle was very motivational, despite him claiming to hate the traditional motivational speaker cliches and tropes. This shows his ingenuity in his craft. He also loves his job, which is great to see. You can follow Kyle, his message to youths, and his journeys across the country on Instagram and Snapchat, and other forms of social media @kylescheele
