On February 4th the JV team hosted a very talented Rahway team. The game was intense and a thriller to watch. The Rams tried to come out fast hoping buckets in transition would benefit the team and tire out the defense. Peter Byrne was the main source of offense using his notorious weapon: the three ball. Rahway and Oratory fought back and forth, however, it just so happened Rahway was cleaning up on the boards. The rebound aspect of the game eventually won it for the men in red and going into halftime the Rams were down eleven points. Rejuvenated from an eight-minute break the Rams went full force coming out of the locker room. The game even got as close as five points. The Rahway team took the air out of the ball when they were up ten points eventually shutting the Rams down. The Rams lost a hard fought battle to the athletic Rahway team.
A week later the Rams visited Rahway on their home turf in hopes for revenge. The team was excited and knew the method of attack was going to be, slowing down the game and making them earn their points. The Rams and Rahway had a very competitive first quarter, the final at the end of the quarter being 11-7. Going into halftime the Rams were down by ten points most likely because of the second and third chances they allowed Rahway to have. Coming out of the locker room at halftime the Rams were motivated to knock off the number one team in Union County. Rahway thought otherwise. The Rams pushed and pushed, however, shots weren’t falling and Rahway’s shots were. Rahway ended up beating Oratory by 22 points; the final score being 19-41.
