OP Varsity Soccer Gets Union County Seed

William Mainente, Staff Writer

Late at night on September 26, 2016, the Union County Boys Soccer Tournament Bracket was released.  Oratory Prep, with a current record of 5-2-1, received the eighth seed and will be matched up against the seventeenth seed Roselle Park.  The two teams have met before earlier in the season and drew to a 3-3 tie after double overtime.  Both Oratory and Roselle Park will face off at home on October 1.  Assuming everything goes as planned Oratory will move on to the next round and presumably face the ninth seed Plainfield at home on the following weekend.  Plainfield currently has a record of 2-3-1.  This will be a tough match for Oratory and should they advance they would be in the Quarter Finals of the tournament.  At this point, Oratory would verse Scotch Plains-Fanwood away.  Scotch Plains-Fanwood is the number one seed in the tournament and is currently ranked second in the nation.  They are undefeated this season at 8-0.  This would arguably be the best team an Oratory Varsity Soccer Team has faced in its history.  However, we can only hope that it will be a hard fought close match.
